Our Infant Program (3-12 months)
From the moment your child is born they begin to learn from their environment and those around them. At King Arthur we focus on creating a nurturing and loving atmosphere where your infant feels at home. The child’s first year of life is full of exciting developmental milestones from rolling over to standing up. Our loving and caring staff understands the value of providing one-on-one time with each infant, assisting them through their developmental stages. We understand how important routine is for each child, and work with parents to establish consistency between home and school. The acquisition of language and motor skills are a primary focus of growth for the child at this age. We provide daily floor time for large motor development, songs, picture books, and object lessons to fulfill these developmental needs.
Our Toddler Program (1.5- 3 years)
Our young children are introduced to the Montessori environment gradually. Beginning at 12 months, the child is surrounded by Sensorial, Practical Life, Language, and Math exercises and manipulative materials designed to prepare the child for more abstract learning. Our Montessori certified teachers expose the children to rhyming activities, songs, chants, and good literature focusing on the child’s vocabulary development. A consistent routine of work is established with the purpose to guide and fulfill the needs children have at this age.
Our Learning Objectives:
Order in an environment and repetition of the exercises.
Respect, good manners, and social skills.
Care of personal cleanliness and toilet training when the child is ready.
Beginning ability to communicate with others.
Our Transition Program (3-4.5 years)
This is our transition program to prepare our toddlers to be successful in our primary program. The classroom environment is an extension of the toddler environment and intended to assist the child in reaching independence. A certified Montessori guide gives individual lessons in the areas of Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Math, and Cultural on their level. Once these exercises and toilet training have been mastered the child is ready to advance to our primary classes.
Learning Objectives:
Social skills and ability to communicate effectively with their peers.
Personal care and toilet training.
Basic concepts such as colors, shapes, numbers, and phonetic sounds.
Ability to maintain order of environment and control of ones self.
Our Primary Program (4.5-6 years)
Our Primary Program begins at age 3, once the child is using the bathroom independently and is ready for a more challenging environment. Our classrooms are multi-aged grouped allowing the younger students to learn from the older children. The older children practice what they have learned by assisting the younger ones. Our certified Montessori teachers facilitate the classroom activities allowing the children to work independently in the areas of Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Math, and Cultural Studies. Each child is presented individual lessons in each of the five areas based on their personal needs and levels. Through repetition with the beautiful concrete materials the children master abstract concepts and build their intelligence. The children progress through each of the areas of the classroom at their own pace allowing them the opportunity to master the exercises. Our goal is to prepare each child to succeed in their next step of education.
